Welcome!

Welcome to Sisterhood and Co, a blog for the writer and hopeful-author Hannah G.... me!

A few things about me:

My name is Hannah. I'm a freshman in high school, and I live up in the mountains of Colorado. Now, don't immediately go to stereotypes... most of the people I know aren't the snotty rich brats the world makes us out to be. There's some decent people up here, so don't go whispering, alright?

Other things... I started creative writing when I was ten in Mrs. Georgina's Fifth Grade Class. We were given the chance to free-write for half an hour, every other morning, and that was the opportunity I had been waiting for. All those creative juices started flowing, and then the words were flowing across the pages. Well, that's a lie. They didn't flow, they more fell out onto the page in a mess of thoughts that gradually became organized and morphed into the works of today.

I've been told I need to show more voice and be more creative, and then I show people my 45,000 word unfinished manuscript. I haven't met another person my age who has been able to show the focus to do that, but what I think they mean is that I need to be a bit more detailed. I know that, that's the point of a rough draft. It needs to be edited and revised... meaning that 80,000 I'm seeing in the future will probably be a bit longer.

My favorite television show is the now-cancelled BBC Wales series Merlin. It's the first show I have ever gone full-on fangirl, so I figure it'll probably stay my favorite for a very long time. I love all of the actors, I love the storyline, and a show that can make me laugh and cry at the same time has to be good, right?

I classify myself as an Indie author. I haven't sold any books, mainly because they're really not good enough for that, but I'm in the middle of a huge project called Laska. It's the first one that's broken novel length, which I see as a very good sign, but I'm just letting the ideas flow. I started it back in the beginning of August with the help of a few friends, two of which are co-authors with me today.

Blurb for Laska:

In the realm of Laska, the five kingdoms of Bila, Eliaa, Ibelisa, Hailla, and Lirameth stand tall. They have lived in harmony for millennia, thriving under the guidance of God and his creating angels: the Mother of the Sun, Arinna, and the Mother of the Moon, Luna. Of her love and warmth, Arinna created the humans, a majestic race that soon ruled Laska, thriving in her beams of life and bringing joy to her existence.

Unbeknownst to the people, however, Luna also bore forth a race. Born of the glowing moonbeams and the coolness of night, the immortal Lunae, named after their mother, thrived in her gentle light and frigid air.

Fearing their power, Arinna gave weakness to the Lunae in exchange for the blood of her children. Once the sun rose over the horizon, the powers of the lunas would dwindle, and they would be subject to the weapons of man. They could die at the hands of man, much in the same way that man would certainly die in the hands of Luna, for though man could feast on many things, Lunae were only sustained by the life provided by the blood of the humans.

To survive, the Lunae blended in with mankind, disappearing when one had stayed in one place too long, only to return to life in a new place.

Thus, the humans and the Lunae existed together, continuing the harmony of Laska.

Now, far into the future, the human world is at war with itself. Ibelisa and Bila have turned against Lirameth, fighting for the supreme rule of Laska, and Eliaa is desperate to make it stop. Queen Asha and King Magnum have sacrificed almost everything for peace... everything but their daughter, Celeste.

The princess is of age to marry, but the queen will not give up her child in such a way. Celeste longs for adventure and the unknown, but her parents have forbade it. Locked away in her own reality, there is no way a man can woo her... but man is not the only contender in these games.

What the rulers of Eliaa did not expect was for a resentful suitor to attack their kingdom and change the fate of Laska forever.

From the perspective of the princess herself, this tale of feuds, war, love, and adventure is sure to captivate readers and show that one person, no matter how insignificant, can influence and change everything.

What do you think? Something you'd want to read?

Anyways, it's currently on an Indie publishing site called BookRix, where I'm getting loads of support. If you'd like to take a look, go ahead and click here.

I'm taking questions and suggestions. Ask away!

~Hannah
